Volunteer Parking, Check-In, Accreditation/Uniforms

Parking

Parking for volunteers upon arrival for all shifts will be in the South parking lots close to the accreditation / volunteer check-in entrance. These lots are available free of charge to volunteers whether during a shift or while attending a draw. Please show your credential to the parking attendant upon arrival.

Check-In

Prior to the start of every shift, volunteers must check-in at the volunteer / accreditation area. Beginning on April 3rd, all volunteers checking in for shifts or seeking credentials / uniforms should enter through the Southwest Entrance of REA. Please note this entrance will only be open during the corresponding hours below. Please make special arrangements with your committee chair if you need to enter the building during other times.

Accreditation/Uniforms

Credentials and Uniforms may be picked up at the earliest on April 3rd beginning at 8 am. These items should be picked up by your first volunteer shift.

The 2008 World Men's Curling Championship will bring together the best curlers from around the world. Twelve men's teams, all national champions from the United States, Canada, Europe and the Pacific Rim, will vie for the title of "World Champion." The 2008 event will take place on four sheets of perfectly manicured curling ice in the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Broken Broom Lounge will be held in the attached Olympic Arena which is located just feet from Ralph Engelstad Arena.

A target number of 300 volunteers will be recruited for the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship and all interested individuals are invited to apply for exciting volunteer opportunities. To be considered for a volunteer position, you must complete a Volunteer Application no later than March 2008. The 2008 World Men's Curling Championship Volunteer Committee will do its very best to match interested individuals with available positions. Please note that applying for a volunteer position does not guarantee acceptance, but we value your support and interest.

General Information

You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer for the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship.
Dependant on response, all applications MAY NOT be required/accepted.
Dates of the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship are April 5 - 13, 2008. Setup begins in March 2008.
Selection of Volunteers will be completed by January, 2008. All applicants will be contacted regarding their application by this date.
Every effort will be made to assign volunteers to their area of choice.
Volunteer Rally is on Thursday, March 20, 2008

All applicants will be notified of their application status no later than March 2008.

By applying to become a volunteer for the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship, you acknowledge and agree with the following:

A minimum of 20 hours of Volunteer Service (each shift is 4-5 hours long on average)
Authorization to perform a background check (including a Criminal Check)
Photo Identification is required at the time of Volunteer accreditation
All accepted Volunteers are required to pay $50.00 for their Volunteer Rewards Package, payable to "2008 World Men's Curling Championship"

Once assigned to a specific area, a member of the Event Management Committee will contact the volunteer to discuss details of scheduling and job function.
